If you were checking out the blog over the weekend, you may have caught my review of Joyboys in the Grindhouse, the new album from Austin, USA-based band Name Sayers. Lioness is a track taken from that album, released as a single complete with a video.
By Graeme Smith
I was a big fan of Joyboys In the Grindhouse, calling it “an exciting mix of genres [with] a powerful and compelling cohesion.” Lioness was one of its more experimental tracks, combining whispered vocals with heavy industrial instrumentals. Its accompanying video reflects its darkness with innovative animation and a sense of mystery.
Name Sayers draw influence from other boundary pushing acts like Grinderman, Nine Inch Nails and TV on the Radio. Fans of those acts need to check out the video for Lioness below.
