Sacramento, USA-based folk pop singer songwriter featured as part of Jane’s Monthly Favourites round up in June this year but it’s thanks to her new track Falling Leaf that I’m getting to sample her music for the first time.
By Graeme Smith
Falling Leaf is the first track to feature Katie on flute, with a solo that gives the song a lively feel. Though upbeat, the song comes from a dark episode in Katie’s life, when she learned that her childhood home had been lost to wildfire. Katie takes a philosophical view, using nature to deliver a message of moving on and going where the wind takes you. It’s a message that feels right given her role as a music therapist.
The track was written and produced by Katie. Mixing and mastering are by Andrew Lozano. You can listen to Falling Leaf below.
