Fool is a darkly atmospheric acoustic folk pop number. It opens stripped-back and intimate, growing slowly with percussion and piano. Its lyrics are instantly arresting, compellingly delivered by Melanie’s characterful vocals. The use of loud-quiet between the verse and chorus gives the track a wonderful sense of texture. It’s such a well put-together pop song that adds something new and interesting to the genre. What more could you want?
