New Music: Luke Beling – A Stone in the Mouth of the Ocean

USA-based alternative folk singer songwriter Luke Beling first hit our radar in February this year thanks to his track The Light Is Coming. Now he’s back with a new one that takes its inspiration from the music of nature. It’s called A Stone in the Mouth of the Ocean.

By Graeme Smith

Luke’s new track is a stream-of-consciousness one reflecting on the nature of stones and their relationship with the ocean. It’s delivered against a back drop of soft and experimental rock that slowly builds. With The Light Is Coming, I was particularly impressed by the imagery in the lyrics and that’s true of A Stone… too. Luke truly is a wonderful storyteller.

A Stone… was produced and mixed by Tyler Fortier at little orange room and mastered by David Glasser. Joining Luke on the record are Nate Barns on drums, Erin Flood Fortier on backing vocals, Glen Yoder on electric guitar and Tyler Fortier on backing vocals, organ, keys, piano and bass. You can check out the track below.
