Video: Birds Are Better – The Loop

Stian Fjelldal, who performs as Birds Are Better, is an Oslo, Norway-based artist who has been featuring on our blog for a while now. It all started at the end of 2022 when he was included in Jane’s Nordic Artists roundup. Since then, I’ve had the delight of sharing a couple of his tracks, and now he’s back with another one that comes complete with a video. It’s called The Loop.

By Graeme Smith

The story of The Loop has a decidedly cosmic twist to it yet its composition feels very much down to Earth. There’s a bed of folk pop over which Stian’s ethereal vocals are poured. It’s all beautifully delicate – thoughtful, yet uplifting. Stian truly is a master of authentic emotion.

Stian takes inspiration from artists like Fleet Foxes, The Flaming Lips, Crowded House and Super Furry Animals. If any of those are your bag, then you really need to check out Birds Are Better. The Loop is Stian’s second single from his upcoming second album, The Island – Part II. You can wathc the video for The Loop below.
