Unity is a Toronto, Canada-based artist who has just come to my attention thanks to her wonderfully unique and adventurous new track. It’s called Somewhere In Time.
By Graeme Smith
Somewhere In Time is an invitation to marvel at the incomprehensible vastness of outer space. Its composition is suitably cosmic but there’s also an undercurrent of human connection in its use of traditional folk elements. They blend pleasingly with experimental electronica creating something that feels quite unlike anything I’ve heard before.
Unity is inspired by ’70s prog rock like Pink Floyd, as well as more contemporary Avant Garde artists like FKA Twigs and those pioneering the hyper pop genre. Her debut concept album, Amalgama, is set for release this year. You can give the video for Somewhere In Time a watch below.
