Athena Joy is a singer songwriter who hails from Australia’s Gold Coast. She’s just caught my attention thanks to her brooding and powerful new indie and dark pop track. It’s called Blame it on the Brain.

Athena wrote Blame it on the Brain. as a way of releasing the frustrations she was experiencing with chronic pain. She was not only mad at herself, she was mad at the medical professionals who couldn’t give her an answer as to what was causing it. The track’s dark arrangement beautifully captures this sentiment and Athena’s expressive vocals will have you feeling along every word she sings, especially during a catchy and memorable chorus.
