Toronto, Canada-based alternative pop artist Laila has featured on this blog a few times now. It was in June this year that I discovered her thanks to her storytelling debut single Strangers at the Airport. I quickly followed that up with a share in the same month of her video I Like Girls. Her latest single finds strength in vulnerability and it’s called Heart Doesn’t Work Like That.

Heart Doesn’t Work Like That is a dark but lively pop track. As ever, Laila’s vocals are utterly compelling and the honesty and vulnerability she shows in her lyrics create a captivating story. Fans of emotional electropop will absolutely eat this track up. It’s yet more evidence that Laila is one to watch.
