Travis Shaw is a musician based not too far from here, just the other side of the North York Moors in Saltburn-by-the-Sea. He’s just come to my attention thanks to his new track, his first release for a couple of years. An outpouring of emotion caused by the injustice in the world, it’s called A Powerful Light.

Though it’s come from a dark place, A Powerful Light is a hopeful song. A brooding intro is punctuated by hard-hitting sequences of rock before the track hits its stride. Travis’s vocals are pleading and passionate as they deliver a story of innocent lives lost.

It’s great to discover such an exciting artist from not far away. I’m looking forward to delving deeper into his world.

A Powerful Light is performed by Travis Shaw on guitar and vocals, Mark Robinson on drums, keys and vocals and Simon Shaw on bass. It was recorded at Travis’s home studio and produced by Travis and Mark. Mark also did the mixing and it was mastered by Chad Male. You can give it a listen below.
