Video: Kinga K – Lilies

Kinga K is a Leeds-based artist who has just come to my attention thanks to her new track and video, inspired by a work of fiction that she read as a teen. A macabre story of infidelity, it’s called Lilies.

By Graeme Smith

Lilies is a pop song, but an unconventional one. A stripped-back first verse showcases Kinga’s expressive vocals and her storytelling lyrics before pulsating electronica comes in. The track makes good use of loud-quiet contrast, keeping things interesting right up to its dramatic conclusion.

Kinga is originally from Poland but is now based in Leeds, having graduated from the Leeds College of Music in 2017. Alongside her solo work, she’s the singer in a band and has become a prominent performer in the local scene.

Lilies was co-written by Kinga and Frankie Harper. You can check out its video, created by Doni Irawan, below.
