Sam Hart is a Toronto, Canada-based singer songwriter who has just come to my attention thanks to the release of her latest single. Exploring the complicated nature of friendship between men and women, it’s called Friends Before.

Sam’s latest is an intimate and personal affair, written on the back of a deceit from a close friend. We feel every note that she sings, and the story is richly rendered by the track’s lyrics. It all unfolds against a backdrop of dreamy acoustic instrumentals, akin to the likes of Sara Bareilles or Lizzy McAlpine.

I’ll certainly be keeping an ear out for more releases from Sam Hart.
