New Music: Jasi Bella – Places I Can’t Go

London-based pop artist Jasi Bella first hit these pages in March last year when she was featured in Jane’s Monthly Favourites round-up. Now it’s my turn to run the rule over some of her music, following the release of her ’80s-inspired synth pop balled Places I Can’t Go.

By Graeme Smith

Places I Can’t Go is a story of heartbreak told through a delicate yet driving arrangement. Jasi’s vocals are wonderfully emotional as she tells a relatable tale that rises and falls captivatingly, hitting a passionate climax in its chorus. The track has been celebrated by BBC Radio Leicester who named it their “Track Of The Day”.

Jasi was born and grew up in Sweden, influenced by Swedish legends ABBA in her younger years. With her latest single, she takes those influences and modernises them, creating something that feels perfect for today’s charts.
