Inspired by artists such as HAIM and Maggie Rogers, Alison Jutta is a Belgium/Netherlands-based lo-fi pop creator who has just come to my attention through the release of her latest single. One that will have you dancing with a broken heart, it’s called Show Me.
By Graeme Smith
Alison came to music early in life, taking classical piano lessons from the age of eight. Supported by a musical family, she moved into pop as she grew before studying the genre academically at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Her background gives her a unique sound that combines the accessibility of pop with the artistry of the Avant Garde.
Show Me is a delicate wonder that combines a relentless beat, twinkling keys and gentle yet captivating vocals. The emotion of it slowly builds to a punchy, bass-heavy conclusion that will have your hairs standing on end.
The track will feature on Alison’s debut album hello, I don’t know, set for release on 16 February. Both single and album were recorded and mixed at Frontal Studio in Brussels by Paulo Rietjens. You can listen to Show Me, distributed by Amber Music, below.
