British singer songwriter Dom Malin has been featuring on this blog since 2020, and we’ve even seen him team up with another York Calling favourite, Luna Keller. Yet, even after all this time, he continues to surprise us with his music, his latest taking us into new, indie rock territory.

Surface is an anthem born from the frustrations of feeling like an outsider. It’s a feeling to which I can certainly relate, and I’m sure others can too. Bold rock chords set the scene before Dom’s ever-expressive vocals come in, delivered with a kind of whispered conviction in the verse before becoming soaring and passionate in the chorus.

With support slots for Paris Paloma and Dermot Kennedy under his belt, Dom is set to take the world by storm; I can just feel it. Check him out if you like James Bay, Sam Fender or Blossoms.
