Brace yourself, here come the Valentine’s Day songs. Our first foray into the world’s most romantic holiday comes courtesy of Vancouver, Canada-based group Gone Sugar Die. Consisting of The Bravery’s Mike Hindert and The Cut Losses’ Patrick McWilliams, they’ve featured on this blog once before.

It was way back in 2020 that Jane discovered Gone Sugar Die for us through their track Eyeliner. Their latest Valentine was inspired by 80s nostalgia and transports the listener to a dive bar somewhere with its gentle and atmospheric synth pop. Of course, things are not as rosy as the title suggests, and Valentine is a story of failed romance told through soft and melancholic vocals.
With an EP coming in the Spring, now is the perfect time to be getting into Gone Sugar Die. You can check out Valentine below.
