Icelandic actress and R&B artist Silja Rós has been appearing on this blog since 2022, featuring in Jane’s Vibes roundup, being interviewed, and having her video Lie Just To Lie featured.

Her latest track The way u… is a soulful one. It’s a love letter to her now fiancé Magnús Dagsson, who also arranged the song with Silja and her producer Stefán Örn Gunnlaugsson. Magnús played guitar, rhodes and bass too, with Baldur Kristjánsson also on bass, Kristófer Nökkvi on drums, Guðjón Steinn Skúlason on saxophone, Sigurrós Jóhannesdóttir on flugelhorn and Vilhjálmur Guðmundsson on trombone.

With that heady array of instruments, The way u… has a rich composition, but it doesn’t take away from the intimacy and vulnerability of its lyrics, beautifully delivered by Silja’s crystalline vocals.
