Newton Aycliffe-based rock band Alex James has featured once before on this blog as part of Jane’s Igneous Rock roundup in September last year.

Alex James is the frontman of the band and lends them their name. Alex has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and may well be the only rock frontman to have it. It hasn’t held him back, and the band’s latest single These Days is a bold, brash anthem of rebellion and desire for change. Opening with fuzzy guitar, it quickly develops into a swaggering rock and roll groove. Alex’s vocals are charismatic and expressive as they deliver their fiery call to action.
If you fancy a trip up the road to Sunderland to see the band live, they’ll be headlining the Independent there tonight, with support from Dayzies and Failed to Ignite. Tickets are £7 and doors at 7pm.
