Toronto, Canada-based indie rock trio SWiiMS have been featuring on this blog since the end of last year following the release of their debut album Into The Blue Night.

Their latest single Given To Me features on the album, and now comes complete with an animated video. Its jangly, dreamy style is enhanced by the video’s quirky story of space exploration, while none of the track’s emotional impact is lost. Soft vocals are the centrepiece of a composition that sits somewhere among the genres of dream pop, Britpop and shoegaze.

SWiiMS are guitarist Colin Thompson, singer and guitarist Mai Diaz Langou, and bassist Cian O’Ruanaidh. Founded by Colin, the trio released their debut EP Through Waves in 2020 before following that up last year with Into The Blue Night. I’m certainly looking forward to hear what they do next.
