New Music: We Are All Fossils – Hollow

Colchester-based group We Are All Fossils have been featuring on this blog since 2019 but somehow their latest is the first track of theirs I’m personally sharing.

By Graeme Smith

Hollow was written as an outpouring of grief following the loss of the band’s songwriter’s mother. So, of course, it’s an emotional affair with some hard-hitting lyrics. Yet, it never gets lost in self-pity and the feelings are expressed in a way that makes them relatable, and I found myself feeling great sympathy as a listener. Soulful vocals are underpinned by some swelling folk sensibilities during three minutes in which you will be completely immersed.

I feel a little late to the party with We Are All Fossils, but I’m glad this blog has been supporting them for all this time. It’s much deserved.

You can give Hollow a listen below.
