Freedom, the latest single and video from folk-pop duo Faultlines, is a rally cry for those who seek justice in a world where it sometimes feels hard to find.
By Graeme Smith
In the face of global wars, legal setbacks, and a world where its leaders and its people seem to be increasingly disjointed, Faultlines’ John Flanagan decided it was time to get political. Working with bandmate Ashley Morgan and co-writer Jared Mitchell, the song Freedom has evolved since its original conception in 2020 to become what has now been released.
The pair bring the track’s powerful sentiments to life through passionate vocals and a rousing pop instrumental. A soaring, pleading chorus is a highlight. It urges the listener to singalong, and then to do something for justice.
Freedom was produced by, and features guitar from, David Kidd. The accordion is played by Andrew Van Vlear. It’s out now and you can check out its video below.
