Marseille, France-based alternative rockers Blue Coffee return with a ode to those who have left and what they have left behind.

Originally appearing on our pages in 2022, Blue Coffee are becoming a firm favourite. Earlier this year, I shared their philosophical track, Birth.

Their latest single Smile and Tear keeps that sense of philosophy alive through a meditation on what we’re left with when someone dear to us departs. It is, of course, a bittersweet effort, showing us the tender and vulnerable side of the Blue Coffee sound through some reflective, acoustic rock. As the track hits its midpoint, it explodes cathartically to life.
