Discovery: Muràl serve heartbreak with new EP

Muràl hit our radar with their emotional four track EP, If You Felt Wrong Was Only My Fault.

An alternative rock and indie band that are new to us, Muràl have the kind of sound that I feel is going to win them a lot of fans. Passion and edge combine in their new EP.

The EP’s title track explores the complexity of human emotions. Set on a warm August night, it draws on the symbolism of moonlight to reflect the introspection of its story. There’s plenty of intimacy in its composition which gives plenty of space for the vocals to shine.

Before we get to it, we enjoy three tracks that showcase the range of Muràl’s sound. Things kick off with the bright and emotional Wake Up Call. Soulful vocals prove to be the highlight, particularly during a soaring, powerful chorus that speaks of wistful heartache.

Too Late strips things back with a vulnerable acoustic moment that’s rich with honesty and imagery. I found myself hanging on its every word. As it progresses, it builds to a bittersweet crescendo.

Close To You livens things up without losing any of the soulfulness during a peppy indie pop number that bounces during a memorable chorus. An acoustic guitar riff provides some organic texture.

Muràl have a beautifully refined sound that also gives us plenty of authentic emotion. The four tracks of their new EP show variety while sticking to a consistent style, and there are some truly outstanding moments. I’m going to be keeping an eye on this band for sure.
