Trash Pillow spotlight the war in Gaza and the work of Berlin-based activists with their new track and video, Grieving Doves.

A Berlin, Germany-based fuzz-punk trio, Trash Pillow are appearing on our blog for the first time thanks to their new track and video Grieving Doves.

The track is a tribute to the Berlin-based activist group of the same name. The collective is formed by people from diverse national, political and religious backgrounds who are seeking peace in Gaza. The band were inspired to write the track after attending a march that the group were leading. It opens with plenty of fuzz and a sense of defiance. We get a slow, steady groove that builds into a verse rich with charismatic vocals and storytelling lyrics. The track becomes anthemic during a chant-along chorus.

Its video intersperses performance with powerful imagery, showcases the cause of the titular group and the world in which they have sprouted. Footage of the march provides perhaps the most striking images with the DIY wings covered in names poignantly on display.

Grieving Doves was written and performed by Trash Pillow and was mixed and mastered by Sascha Blach. The video was shot by Nicholas Antoun, with photography from Andy Rumball. Ser Lagania took the Grieving Doves footage. It was edited by Janusz Nielsen-Rumball. It’s out now and you can give it a listen below.
