Guatemala’s Wino Gandara gives us an epic tale of resilience with latest single, Desertic Rain.
By Graeme Smith
Wino’s music has featured twice before on our pages, going back to 2023 when he hit our radar through his epic and unconventional track, The Journey.
His latest, Desertic Rain, draws inspiration from the likes of Dream Theater and Metallica and explores the theme of overcoming internal struggles. There are two versions of the track – an instrumental and a vocal. Both see Wino team up with Alessandro Bertoni, Lukky Sparxx, and Oleh Andrievsky and give us slow-building wonder. The emotional tapestry is evident from the first few bars before things get lively and rocky with some wailing guitar and synths.
Desertic Rain was recorded at Wino’s home studio. It’s out now and you can give it a listen below.
