They say absence makes the heart grow fonder and it was a topic on M’ADAM‘s mind when he penned his latest single, The same way.
By Graeme Smith
The same way is a soft and simmering number that pairs a folky, acoustic instrumental with gentle vocals. There’s a melancholia to it, yet its lyrics are uplifting, speaking of companionship and mutual support. Things sway gently throughout and arrive at lush, string-filled crescendo.
M’ADAM is the performing name of Cork, Ireland’s Adam O’Donovan. He wrote The same way about his sister and her partner being far apart, an experience he’d also had with his wife. It’s rich lyrics capture the idea that physical distance doesn’t prevent spiritual connection.
Following on from his 2023 album, Horse Food Budget 1984, M’ADAM will be releasing his new album, Before We Die, in summer 2025.
The same way is out now and you can give it a listen below.
