Influenced by ’90s and early ’00s RnB and hip-hop, Sister Stone‘s single, Guided, is an intimate reflection of her spiritual path and devotion to the Creator.
By Graeme Smith
Guided is a smooth and soulful track that combines old school flavour with modern edge. Characterful vocals take centre stage against a funky, laidback backdrop. They sing introspective and encouraging lyrics that seek the light in darkness. The track has a brightness that makes it an inviting listen; it never lets up, leading seamlessly to a spoken word finale.
“It’s spiritual but relatable,” Sister Stone says of the track. “I call it medicine music because it helps people get through tough times and supports them on their path.”
Hailing from Detroit, USA, Sister Stone is an internationally touring artist, sacred activist, ceremonialist, event curator, intuitive dancer, and nature guide. For Guided, she went on a journey to Tepoztlan, Mexico, recording it there.
