An ode to being in a band in a world that often couldn’t care less, This Scene Is Over is the latest single from The Fades.
By Graeme Smith
This Scene Is Over quickly shudders into life with a pop-punk infused garage rock riff before we get a verse that’s full of heart and meaning. The vocals are rich with expression as we get into a chant-along chorus that attempts to rouse into revival the dying world of independent music.
“The music venue is the one place where people are actively seeking out underground and independent music,” says the band of the track’s meaning. “It’s where you find your tribe, connect with like-minded people, and build the networks that keep scenes alive. Without these spaces, entire ecosystems of creativity and community vanish.”
London’s The Fades have been lighting up our pages with their unique brand of rock since 2022. We’ve had throwbacks, lost jobs, and even the appearance of Keanu Reeves in their music. This Scene Is Over proves they haven’t lost any of their mojo and makes an important point to boot.
This Scene Is Over is out now, and you can listen to it below.
