Based on the other side of the Pennines in Manchester, Jessica Luise is an indie pop singer songwriter with a penchant for storytelling. Her latest is a tale of love and seduction. It’s called Middle of June.
By Graeme Smith
The track has a dreamy pop feel about it but there’s a soft rock edge there too, with guitar riffs, walking bass and flashy percussion. The star of the show, though, is Jessica’s charming vocals, full of longing and nostalgia. They paint a picture of the warmth and beauty that only comes with love.
Jessica’s sound has drawn comparisons to Beabadoobee, Arlo Parks and Fleetwood Mac but I think she’s bringing something really fresh to the indie pop scene. Have a listen to Middle Of June for yourself below.
