Apple Shakers are a London-based alternative rock duo who first hit our radar in May through their existential track Silhouettes. Now they’re back with a new one that, in the band’s own words, “empowers scared and tormented souls”. It’s called Wanna Be.

Wanna Be opens with a foot-stomping rhythm, big bluesy guitar riffs and passionate vocals. You’re left in no doubt of what you’re about to get, yet the track still throws some twists and turns at you. It all feels fresh while being reassuringly familiar. That’s quite an art. Lyrically, the track takes on topics as diverse as inter-class tension and self-love.

Apple Shakers are definitely one of the most exciting prospects in the UK rock scene at the moment in my book. You can check out Wanna Be below.
