New Music: The Lunar Keys – 88 Train

The Lunar Keys are becoming a regular feature on this blog. The Guildford-based rockers first hit our radar in 2021 as part of Jane’s Underground Indie Rock round up, which she quickly followed up with an interview. Since then they’ve made more appearances than I can count on one hand and are back again. This time with a philosophical single called 88 Train.

By Graeme Smith

88 Train opens with bold guitar riffs but there’s something a little anxious about it. Storytelling lyrics paint a picture of uncertainty and the vocals are full of emotion, especially during a soaring chorus. Yet, despite it all, 88 Train is anthemic indie pop rock that will get your blood pumping.

Over the past couple of years, The Lunar Keys have been growing, and doing a lot of travelling. 88 Train reflects this personal journey but also speaks to something a little more universal. It’s a must-listen if you like classic pop rock. You can check it out below.
