New Music: Bad Ass Beauty – TypeCast

In March this year, Los Angeles, USA-based rock artist Bad Ass Beauty, real name Laquinta Prince, burst onto our radar. She was included in Jane’s Igneous Rock round up featuring hard rock artists, and Jane even posed her a few questions in a Q&A too. Now I get to run the rule over her music thanks to her latest release about catching feels in unexpected places. It’s called TypeCast.

By Graeme Smith

TypeCast gets right into it thanks to Laquinta’s powerful and attitude-filled vocals and some machine gun drums. The riffs are nice and dirty, and the track canters along with classic rock sensibilities. The lyrics cut don’t mess around either. TypeCast is a hell of a track.

Laquinta has been performing all her life, bringing together rock influences like Led Zeppelin and the soul of Chaka Khan and Beyoncé. A woman of many talents she also starred in the rock opera 4 Horsemen, based on her own music. 4 Horsemen is now set to be release as an album in the autumn.

You can give Type Cast a listen below.
